WU Season 4, Ep. 2 – Learning About Our Allies – Latinos, 2-16-22, 8.49 PM

Progressive Black people use the term POC or BIPOC frequently. But, what do we know about the communities other than African American that are included in those terms? In our round table discussion of the 2020 election we discussed how communities voted. Through that discussion we realized we heard conflicting news accounts about the Latino vote. One thing was clear however, Latinos are not a monolithic entity. Of course, that is no surprise because African Americans often remind others that we are not a monolithic voting bloc either. For this season we are going to include guests from the POC communities. This episode Learning About Our Allies – Latinos is the first in the series..

Our first guest for the series is Aida Pacheco, a life long activists on behalf of the Latino community. She is currently a member of the Virginia Latino Advisory Board. Aida helps us understand some of the complexities of understanding how to ally with Latino communities. At the same time she reminds us of the importance of grass roots efforts to build those ally relationships. Hope you enjoy: Learning ABout Our Allies – Latinos.
